Last night Lisa Montgomery was executed by lethal injection. It was one in a long list of federal executions in the last year (I counted 11 as of this morning).
Yesterday 4,406 people died of COVID-19 in America alone. The highest single day of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. The total is now over 381,000.
Last week “Christians” stormed the Capitol building, resulting in 6 deaths and countless injuries.
On November 3, 2020, 81% of white evangelicals voted for Donald J. Trump. Many claimed that even if they didn’t like anything else about him or his policies, that at least he was “pro-life”. Meanwhile, no policy changes have occurred, or will occur, at the federal level to make any meaningful correlative impact on the amount of abortions across this country.
“Pro-life” means nothing. It is a tool of the Republican Party to garner votes from a demographic that is otherwise complicit in a culture of death: overwhelming support for the death penalty; resistance to COVID-19 precautions and vaccination; fear of everyone but “their people” in the halls of power.
A culture of death that claims the name of Jesus has failed to hear his words and obey them. It is anti-Christ.
O Lord, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
