It is a new day with a new leader of Babylon (America). I watched much of the pomp and circumstance yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like a weight was lifted.
Some will say, “How can you rejoice with this leader and not with the previous?” or “Aren’t we still in Babylon and Jesus is still King?”. And to that I say, “Yes, but I still know a good/better Caesar when I see one.”
There is much to critique with this new regime. God forbid we falter in our work for the kingdom of God because we loosed the shackles of a tyrant.
If you are finding this blog post randomly in the vast expanse of the internet you may be wondering where I’m coming from; what perspective would lend itself to such statements? If you are open to learning I would encourage you to tune in tonight for the premier of the documentary Postcards From Babylon.
Additionally, begin to read some authors outside your sphere of influencers, specifically liberation theologians/theologies. It will provide a perspective severely lacking in most.
Go in peace with these words by Amanda Gorman, exquisitely presented at the inauguration:
“…quiet isn’t always peace and the norms and notions of what just is, isn’t always justice.”
